The Samsung Galaxy S IV is the next flagship release for the South Korean tech giant and is certainly the next top Android powered smartphone as well. It is scheduled for release on April 26, 2013 and promises great things in the form of brand new features and those that have made the current version, the Galaxy S III, extremely popular. The device will be available for numerous wireless networks, from the four major carriers to prepaid and more.
Following the tradition that Samsung has been known for with its Galaxy S line, the newest flagship smartphone will feature a Super AMOLED HD five inch touchscreen that will have a a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels and 441 pixels per inch. Corning Gorilla Glass 3 will protect the display and keep it highly durable against accidental drops and spills. It will be available with internal storage amount choices of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB and will include 2GB of RAM. In addition to internal storage, there is a microSD slot that supports microSD cards of up to 64GB, making for a possible total of 128GB of storage.
The Samsung Galaxy S IV will come out of the box equipped with the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system. This, however, may end up being upgradable to the next version of 5.0 Key Lime Pie, although that remains to be seen. A quad- core 1.9 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor will pack a good amount of power to the device so that users can surf the web, stream content, play HD games and download apps to their hearts’ content.
The primary rear-facing camera is expected to be 13 megapixels, which is nearly unheard of as most phones include 8 megapixel shooters. It doubles as a camcorder that is capable of shooting HD 1080 pixel video at 30 frames per second. That is not all you can expect from the Galaxy S IV’s primary camera as it also includes dual video recording. The secondary front-facing camera is only 2 megapixels but can also record 1080 pixel video in addition to being perfect for video calls.
The Galaxy S IV has a huge battery that is 2600 mAh. This is certainly expected to get people through a full day’s worth of usage without relying on a home phone, although standby and talk time are yet to be determined. Upon release, the newest Samsung flagship smartphone will be available in two colors — black and white. The device will include a great feature called Eye Tracking, which is technology in which the phone can track where your eye is. In other words, if you are watching a video and look elsewhere, the Galaxy S IV will pause it so that you can continue where you left off when your eyes wandered.
There are also air view and gestures included, enabling users to move their fingers in front of the screen of the smartphone to do things. For example, if you are in the photo gallery, hovering your finger before the screen will allow you to preview a picture by enlarging it. The same can be done when reading content as the portion you are browsing will enlarge.
